Amazon Web Services

Ambry and Invicro’s Path to Profitability, and REALM’s Path to Integrated Diagnostics

You may have heard the term AWS but what is it? AWS stands for Amazon Web Services and it is REALM’s cloud-based provider that establishes the groundwork for enhancing our services and improving efficiencies.

Ambry and Invicro are focused on improving profitability of their core businesses, and REALM is building a pathway to integrated diagnostics. To support this direction, in March 2021, REALM announced a five-year collaboration with AWS to build a cloud foundation that creates the infrastructure, security and governance for REALM’s technology.

Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of computing resources that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. Computing resources may include networks, servers, storage or applications. For REALM, Ambry and Invicro, using this technology provides the agility to adapt to changing environments, the ability to scale services, create more efficiencies and develop new opportunities to advance precision medicine.

REALM and AWS’ partnership is showing good results.

In FY 2021, Ambry partnered with AWS to build a cloud-native version of Ambry’s CancerNext pipeline, which demonstrated a 58% reduction in turnaround time and 80% reduction in costs, saving REALM a projected $10M in FY 2022.

Invicro and AWS built a similar solution for their MRI super-resolution pipeline, allowing them to run months of data processing in days. This work through the cloud is laying the foundation for LATTICETM, REALM’s integrated diagnostics platform that will combine data from different therapeutic areas and modality types to inform discovery, diagnosis and treatment. AWS and Ambry are also in the process of migrating and modernizing all pipelines to be cloud native. This will improve cost efficiency, enhance scalability for volume and global reach and improve turnaround times.

Realm is on a journey to create the capabilities that will inform precision medicine. Working with AWS, we are using existing technology and building new products and services that strengthen our position as a leading integrated diagnostics company.
